Compact & Lightweight Lens

The Nikon Z 40mm f/2 is a compact prime lens for use with a Z camera. The focal length of 40mm can function as a compact carry lens. It's wide enough for street work, landscapes, and indoors but yet can in most circumstances be used for portraits and candid shots. The lens has a fast f/2 maximum aperture for low lighting situations, and helps freeze fast action when used with a fast shutter speed, the maximum aperture of f/2 can separate your subject from the background with a nice blurred background. Being this is an S lens it should have high image quality consistency and brightness.

Performance of the Nikon 40mm:  The Nikon 40mm f/2 lens is on par with most Nikon Z mount lenses optically but lacks coatings that S lenses get, don't worry the Nikon 40mm f/2 lens produce sharp contrasty images for most situations. The Nikon 40mm f/2 is a pleasure to carry with it's its compact size and weight at only 1.8 inches and just 6oz you will find it a trouble-free camera companion. As compared to other Nikon S lenses the Nikon 40mm f/2 is a very good lens in the hand and on your Nikon Z camera.

This lens offer Photographers a nice option for a carry lens and for street photography work with a reasonable close focus capability of just over 11 inches. Works great on both DX + 1.5 crop (60mm) and the FX cameras (40mm). A very nice lens for video users with some noticeable focus breathing but with near-silent operation.

You can change the focus ring behavior to another function such as aperture, etc if you wish within your Nikon Z camera settings. You have one choice or the other not both at the same time.

Is this lens for you? If you are an indoor or street photography shooter or someone who desires a light compact lens with a near-perfect focal length and very good image quality I would say yes!

I own much higher quality Nikon Lenses than this 40mm but I really enjoy using the Nikon 40mm f/2 lens because it is compact and gives me images that are sharp without the expensive and weight of other options, With the Nikon 40mm f/2 lens I don't worry about the lens and just concentrate on my Photography. It gives great results for a price I enjoy.
