NIKKOR Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR Should You Buy

One Lens

TrueToad

I own many Nikon Lenses both the F mount and Z mount versions and many of my F mount lenses I have sold after upgrading to the Z mount versions. One thing I don't like is haggling with the FTZ adapter to mount my F lenses on my Z camera, although the FTZ is a great tool to adapt your F mount lenses to Z mount it is a bit of a hassle, and don't like the hassle. To avoid the hassle I am fully migrating my f mount lenses to Z mount lenses.

My old carry travel lens was either a 28-300 or a 24-120 f mount lens but now I have the option to move to a Z mount Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens - the question is should I upgrade?

After careful consideration, I decided to dump my old go-to travel F mount lenses in favor of the newer Z mount Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens for all the reasons I mentioned above concerning the FTZ adapter - one less thing to carry.

Unless you are doing professional work while on travel/vacation why carry that $2300.00 70-200 Z and the $2000.00 24-70 on a road trip? In my mind the small benefit of image quality over the much more compact and lighter Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR out weights the benefits of the faster glass lenses.

You can YouTube the many reviews of the Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR and see for yourself it is a very good lens indeed with very good image quality.

The Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is an excellent choice for a travel lens or for those outings when you want lighter and less gear to carry along.
