Carenado DO228
Beautiful Rendentation
TrueToad
Bottom Line it the D0228 is a keeper! Beautifully depicted, easy on FPS, low on your VAS useage (thanks Carenado). A fine balance of overdoing the Aircraft in the fly-ability in your simulator. Carenado must have released this aircraft as an easy to get in and fly without too much effort - without having to spend hours pouring over manuals.
The flight characteristics are predicable, and enjoyable with a weighty but nimble feel while you are en-route to your next airport or air strip. The aircraft is perfect in many scenarios. I spent a few hours in and around flying and landing day and night, in different weather conditions - the DO228 is a pleasure to use in the Flight Simulator environment with plenty of VAS to spare for those long flights without worry of OOMs, at least for me - read my OOM post.
Comes in 6 HD liveries (HD is the High Def versions) + the necessary manuals for emergency checklist, Normal Checklist, Performance Tables, Reference Manual, FMS manual, MFD manual, the GNS530 and a recommended settings manual.
Lots of other nice features: GNS530 option, 4096 x 4096 textures, Volumetric Side view prop effect, 3d sounds, and a custom panel.
Please note that the aircraft is VC cockpit only and no 2d panels.
Concerns: The 32 bit environment, The initial loading of the Aircraft consumes 1.5gb VAS, if you change your mind and load a second livery of the same aircraft that VAS goes up with each change. This is a problem in the limiting 32bit environment, and I don't understand why vendors have not added a "flush memory" feature when changing between aircraft. PLEASE for the love of GOD address these VAS issues.
