Lasiodora Parahybana - Salmon Pink Birdeater

Date Acquired: April 13, 2022

Last Shed: May 20, 2022

Sex: Unknown as of date

Last Rehouse: 04/20/2022

Personality: Docile, rarely bites unless stressed. Has large fangs when grown

Care Level: Intermediate due to Urticating hairs - New World

Urticating hairs: Yes - Considered some of the most irritating. Should not be taken lightly. Use gloves, long sleeves, and face protection during re-housings.

Care and Details: Terrestial, Burrows into the substrate - Fast Growth Rate.

Local:  North East Brazil; The climate where the Salmon Pink Tarantula is found is a tropical climate. Hot and Humid but dry from July - to December. Average annual temperatures range from the mid-'70s to mid 80's.

Temp/humidity: Temperature between 72°-80°F and humidity at 70% - 75%. The substrate is CoCO fiber with a weekly misting to maintain humidity. I use damp clay balls as a base for humidity control.

Enclosure: A setup for a Terrestial tarantula. I use cork bark as a hide with a pre-made burrow to get started. The enclosure should be on the larger side for fully grown Tarantulas. Full Grown Adults should be housed in a 24" x 15" x 12" or larger all-glass enclosure.

Substrate: Currently a mix of about 75% Coco fiber and 25% Earth with a depth up to the lower vent holes with clay balls as a base to maintain humidity.

Food: Varied diet of Crickets and roaches and mealworms weekly depending on the appetite. I do not feed pinkies etc.

Adult Size: Grows to about 10+ inches when fully grown. Males are smaller-bodied but leggier. When young these Tarantulas can teleport.

Longevity: Females about 16 years, Males about 5

Temperament: A mostly docile spider.

Venom: Non-Medically Significant, Mild Venom
