Nikon's New Flagship Mirrorless
I am a lifelong Nikon customer having had a very nice experience with all my Nikon purchases such as my Nikon Microscope, Nikon Monarch Binoculars, Nikon Cameras, and Nikon Lenses everything from the Mighty Nikon 600mm ED FL to the 8-15mm and almost every lens in between. Not to mention a heap of DSLRs from the D5, D4, D850, D500, D7200, etc and now three Nikon Mirrorless Cameras and most of the Z lenses (except the NOCT). Yes, I am a Nikon user.
Why do I make the statement above? Because I want Nikon to succeed and for Nikon to "resume" a spot for my continued partnership of their products. When I pre-ordered the Nikon Z7 and then received it I realized it was all hype and little substance. I was let down by Nikon and mislead through Nikon's Marketing. So here we are with Nikon taunting the Z9 using teaser videos that offer nothing except to stimulate speculation. Why doesn't Nikon just announce the features and open up pre-orders?
Can Nikon deliver a new camera before 2022? No! Realistically speaking the Nikon Z9 will not ship en-mass until the late 1st Quarter of 2022. The best Nikon will be able to do is ship a handful of Z9 to "special" people to further promote the hype with staggering pricing all for a camera that at best MIGHT be CLOSE to their flagship DSLR cameras the D6. Maybe.
Historically, this is where I would normally mention all the previous Nikon announcements and their promises, and pre-order delays but what's the point - it will be what it will be. I am just glad Nikon is about to pull the Z9 from the camera oven after 3+ years of baking.
8K. I don't see too many people sporting 8K screens right about now, but nice for those who use it. I ask if you are shooting in 8K video where the heck are you editing and storing all that media at? Who is the customer base for 8K?
I'll be happy if Nikon delivers a camera that can track and autofocus in difficult situations PRO use for Sports, wildlife, and venues with good 4k video features. That is the camera most Pros customers want today.
