Nikon Mirrorless DM6
Nikon Mirrorless Camerea
Based on my insights and Japan contacts - Nikon is working on a DX mirrorless camera body that offers backward compatibility for most of the DX and FX lens which is great news.
It is believed the camera will feature a DX sized sensor with 26mp resolution with in-camera stabilization. This first offering is geared for the enthusiast and early adopters of Nikon's new way forward in an enthusiast level DX sensor Mirrorless camera. The great thing about this rumor is maintaining backward compatibility of the best glass on earth, + this will allow Nikon to begin developing new lenses just for their next generation mirrorless camera bodies.
- Nikon must make the move to pro level mirrorless sooner than later, mirrorless technology now offers more benefits than drawbacks and the other companies are cutting into Nikon's fan base. Nikon will answer the call to this with their introduction of the DM6 within the next two years, possibly as soon as late 2018.
- Also to note is that Nikon's historically speaking - the company maintains compatibility with their lens but will begin to offer newer lens based on the mirrorless design to take full advantage.
- How do I know this - I have an engineer friend in Japan who works on Nikon camera body castings design (the inner shell), and the casting his team is working on is not for a DSLR...
- As I gather more data and intel I will update this thread.
