Mason Neck Refugee

The caption photo seems to say it is unreal, in fact is an actual image taken on that early morning - check your Astro Calendars.... Why I come to Mason Neck is the closeness to the Potomac and birds.  Mason Neck is known for a variety of migratory birds. Mason Neck is otherwise known as Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck and is a National Wildlife Refuge established for the protection of the American Bald Eagle. The park offers varied outdoor enthusiast the ability to hike, bird watch, bike, outdoor grills, and a small boat ramp for car top type boats. I enjoy going to Mason Neck throughout the year and carefully waiting and watching for various species of birds and animals. Osprey are common here, an occasional hawk , vultures, Great Blue Heron, Egrets, Geese, Mallards, Northern Flickers, Red Bellied, Pileated, Downey wood peckers can be found here at different seasons. I have ran across the Northern Copperhead on one occasion, other water snakes, turtles, and other small animals. On occasions red fox can be found.
