How Much Longer Can Nikon Fans Wait?
Here Comes The Z9
With the recent announcement of a New Pro-Level Mirrorless Camera from Nikon - The Z9, our collective wait might be coming to an end. Well, when I say the weight "might" be coming to an end, the weight begins again with the pre-order and delay in shipping the camera. Consider the Nikon Z fc with a July release date still on backorder in late August. Empty Unboxings not being filled. I had hoped to have my Z fc in my hands for Summer shooting but that looks to be a bust now, a BIG letdown. Nikon customers can only take so many disappointments before they move on to another brand.
I am tired of waiting on Nikon to get off their butts and produce a real "Pro Level" camera with lenses. Maybe Nikon should just throw in the towel and call it a day. That would make it soo much easier for me to switch to Sony. The Z9 is coming, if it is anything like the Z7 forget it, it will be a dud compared to the Sony A1.
While the Z7 and Z6 were both overhyped by Nikon, the upcoming Z9 has so far only posted a press release that laid out some basic information on what to expect. If and when the Nikon Z9 comes to fruition and it delivers Pro-Level performance it would begin a new path for the Next Gen Nikon Mirrorless Cameras.
I have been with Nikon for many years and like all companies who experience their ups and downs hopefully, the release of the Nikon Z9 mirrorless will help smooth out the bumps much like the Retro Nikon Z fc Mirrorless has proven to do for those customers who want a classic to shoot with - if you don't mind the wait. With all this said I intend to stay with Nikon and enjoy the road ahead and fond memories of the happier days of the past.
