On the Trail with a Nikon 300mm f/4: Hummingbird

Last of the Summer Hummingbirds

TrueToad

I had the opportunity this year to use the New Nikkor 300mm f/4 PF lens and I can say it is one of the finest telephotos I have ever used. Nikon has done this lens right and I appreciate it's lightweight, accurate focus, and supreme sharpness this lens can deliver some awesome photos.

As summer winding down I took an opportunity to set up a photo session overlooking my hummingbird feeders, with these diminutive and fast birds you need good light and a fast lens in order to capture a good photograph  In order to control lighting I set up a remote flash to assist when the little birds decided to feed late in the day.

Overall I had a great time photographing one of my favorite birds and especially using this lens this year - what a winner.
